Hello friends I am new to the list and have a question. I will spare everyone the details. Suffice it to say that in the 1770s two men, John Cain and Daniel Cain came to what is now Harrison County, West Virginia being land grantees and militia members. I was told some time ago that this Daniel Cain married a daughter of Arnold Custer and that John maried a girl named Booth. However I read several posts on this list from some years ago that seem to indicate that part of this is wrong and possibly proven wrong. If Daniel Cain of WV did not marry a Custer I don't want to spread that around. But he and John being military men I would like to know who they did marry and where they really came from. Can anyone point me to a site, record, or person who could prove for me the truth about the wfe of Daniel Cain and which Daniel really married a Custer? I will accept any outcome but if I am to take the position that West Virginia Daniel did not marry a Custer I would want to have proof to back it up. Also, if any proof or disproof exists on the John Cain - Booth marriage I would be grateful to see it. Finally Cornelius Cain, brother of the above, marched a miltia platoon into this valley in 1782 to protectthe settlers. I would like to know what eventually became of this Cornelius.
