"John Clifton 'J.c.' Cain, Jr. YADKINVILLE -- 'For I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.' -- II Timothy 4:6-7. Our beloved, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, John Clifton 'J.C.' Cain, Jr., 70, of Carolina Avenue, Yadkinville, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Nov. 25, 1935, in Yadkin County to John Clifton Cain, Sr. and Elizabeth Wooten Cain. Mr. Cain was a farmer and owner and operator of J.C. Cain Backhoe Services for the last 35 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Gospel Way Baptist Church. After retirement, he became an accomplished guitar and fiddle maker and enjoyed the time he spent at nights playing and singing for his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Cain; and three sisters, Opal Gregory, Katie Calloway, and a baby sister, Dorothy Cain. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ruth Saunders Cain, of the home; his six children, Cathy (Ralph) Harris, Debbie (Jimmy) Rutledge, Sheriff Michael (Betty) Cain, Keith (Vickie) Cain, Tony (Kim) Cain, and Mark (Tammy) Cain; grandchildren Gray Harris, Kristy (Richard) Eaton, Beth Rutledge, Jonathan (Melinda) Harris, Jamie Rutledge, Heather (Justin) Shew, Ashley Cain, Justin Cain, Brittany Cain, April Cain, Matthew Cain, and Savannah Cain; and two sisters, Ruth Peele and Blanche Cain. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Union Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenny Gooden officiating. He will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with honors provided by the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 14, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Cancer Services of Forsyth County, 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express their gratitude to the following agencies for all the prayers, help, and support given to them during Mr. Cain's illness: Cancer Services of Forsyth County, Hospice of Yadkin County, Dr. Kenneth Maxwell, Forsyth Medical Center E.R. staff, Yadkin County E.M.S., Yadkinville Fire Department, Yadkin County Sheriff's Office, Yadkinville Police Department, staff of Blue Ridge Cardiology, Forsyth Medical Park staff, and Dr. Eugene Paschold."
