A young girl named Lucy Cain, daughter of John D. Cane, who managed the Point Clear Hotel on Mobile Bay, Alabama, near Mobile, was supposedly killed by a cannon shot from a union gunboat at the very end of the war. I cannot find anything about either of them, other than the attached. On Thursday morning I am giving a speech on this subject at breakfast.
