I have not been able to find who her parents were. She married George Parker Melson before 1840, as I found them in the following censuses: 1840 cen: MELSON, Parker (head) 1m<5; 2m 5-10; 1m 30-40; 1f 5-10; 1f 10-15; 1f 20-30; 1f 50-60. Elizabeth City Co., VA. 1850 cen, Aug. 19: MELSON, Parker age 46, occ: none; Margaret Ann age 32; Mary Ann age 10; Geo. Thomas age 6; Sarah Eliz. age 3; Wm. P. age 4/12; BANKS, Catherine age 17. All born VA. Hampton, Elizabeth City Co., VA. 1860 cen Jun 18: MELSON, George P. age 57, Oysterman, Prop. value $100; Margaret A. age 41; George T. age 16; Sarah J. age 13; Willliam P. age 10; Margaret M. age 3; Elizabeth age 1. All born VA. Dwelling 184, Hampton, Elizabeth City Co., VA. Their daughter, Sarah Jane Cornelia Melson (born March 1846 in Elizabeth City Co. and died Sep 6, 1909 in Norfolk, VA), was my gg-grandmother. She married John W. DeHart in 1869. Their children were born in Bruton Twp., York Co., VA. Do you have Margaret on your trees? Could she be a sister of Thomas J. Cain? Odd that the name "Cornelia " shows up in the names of both of their children?
