Surnames: Cain, Thompson, Wilson, Thornton, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XOH.2ACIB/2766.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I believe we have been in touch some time ago. My line goes from Thomas Cain, Alfred Cain, John W Cain, Clyde Cain, and my father, John Wesley Cain. There is never any mention of my grandfather, Clyde, in the Reedy history as John and Sarah McCarty Cain had moved the family to Spencer or Sisterville, where he was born and then to Parkersburg. My brick wall in this family concerns Clyde's sisters Luanna, Florence Cain Thornton, Janette, Laura Cain Little, and Adell Cain Wilson. Laura and husband, Charles, lived in Parkersburg and had 2 daughters, Pauline and Alma. Laura died while the girls were still young and Charles remarried. I cannot find married names for Janette or Luanna. I know Florence, Janette, and Adell were all living in Kansas City Missouri by 1930 and Luanna may have been as well. Why did all these sisters move to MO?? Clyde had moved to Pittsburgh with sister and brother in law Thornton. He married and stayed. Florence and husband moved on to Ohio and ended up in MO. I have snapshots of the sisters taken in Kansas City and a woman named Ailsa Buck is in some of them and I believe she may be related. There are 2 brothers, William T (bc 1872) and Charles D (b 1880). Charles was army , married Lottie and adopted a daughter (Esther?) and died in 1932. He lived and is buried in Leavenworth KS If you or anyone has found any information on the Cain women who moved to Kansas City MO between 1910 and 1920's, I would love to hear. I have several pics of these sisters.

My family started to come here to Michigan 4 generations ago. My gr gr grandfather name was also John James Cain. He had 17 children so it was very difficult to follow our family history. Most of the Cains that live in this area are very strange about talking about their family history, as you may have found, but I am willing to share any info that I have if you are interested. What is strange is that my wifes name is Shirley J

Charles was originally from WV and 3 or 4 of his sisters married and moved to Kansas City Missouri. I have a family snapshot taken in 1920's that includes "Charles Cain..., Charley's wife... Charley's adopted daughter " (other family members included in photo)

    1. ISAAC CAIN

    3. I have recently found that the Rebecca Ann CAIN who m 1850 Madison Co MO to David C. BLACK of Randolph Co. AR. was the daughter of Isaac Cain This seems to be the Isaac Cain who was living in Conecuh Co AL in 1830 and Monroe Co AL in 1840.. The 1850 Census of Madison Co MO gives Isaac's birth place as GA and all of his children's birth places as AL. His wife is Elizabeth. I find a marriage record for Isaac Cain and Elizabeth Johnson in Hancock Co GA 02 Sept 1816. It looks as though Elizabeth's mother was Elizabeth Ashfield. Isaac Cain and Elizabeth Johnson's first son seems to have been Isaac Ashfield Cain. listed as 34. on the 1850 census a miner I think that the second child was William R. who was already m at the time of the 1850 census. He is in the1850 census of Randolph Co AR with wife Henningham and a 12 yr old male, looks like Nevrow Anniah born Mexico Samuel 22 blacksmith Ann (think this is Rebecca Ann) 17 Allen (Timothy Allen) 16 miner Augustus 14 Emana 11 Young 8 Einira? 15 m laborer b Mexico I'm looking for the parents of Isaac but any information about this family would be welcome. My family was in New York, Canada, and Wisconsin. Must be another Cain family line or related farther back that I haven't been able to research back on. Good luck. I found some of this stuff for you on the LDS website, Kindredkonnections, and rootsweb. I've been doing this along time on my own family. Trust me, not all records online are correct and accurate. The South Carolina birth may or may not be correct. I have only seen 1 posting with that particular location.
