Emigrated to the USA Lake Erie, Ohio, in around 1907, found them in the 1910 census with Louie, (wife) and other son William. Louie and William returned to England in 1912. Both Charles seem to have disappeared, but after a family member mentioned Ontario, I have found a death certificate for Charles Snr dated May 7th 1931, name of father Edward, and infrormed by son, Charles alfred Cain. All seem to fit my charles. Some of the writing on the certificate is illegible. It looks like he was buried at Riverside, he lived at 1196 James St, it looks like Mt Dennis His sons address looks like Thamesford? trying to read doctors writing is terrible. This Cain was born in 1962, and the son was born in 1899. I am trying to trace the family and to see what happened to this line. Charles Snr was my mother in laws grandfather, she was the daughter of william she desperately wanted to know what had happened to them. She has now passed, but we have decided to contine the search Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Gordon, are you descended from Patrick also? My ancestor is William H. Cain, son of Patrick and Maranda. I would love to exchange information, I do not find too many in same line. I have heard there are Berry's in the family names but not found the line yet. I have a Joseph Cain, 26 Sep 1818-12 Apr 1912, born Independence Twp, Beaver County, PA, died, Kokomo, Howard Cty, IN, married to Nancy A Reed, with four sons and two daughters. The family moved to Indiana between 1860 and 1870. His grandfather is John Cain/Kain, The Settler, in Beaver County, Pa, and I have a good number of the descendants. Three brothers, George W., Absalom and John Cain all came from what they referred to as Shenandoah, VA. They were all in Dubuque, Iowa by 1850. At least George W. and John had previously lived in Highland County, OH. These brothers were b. between 1813-1819 and their mother was Susan S. b. in 1787 in PA or VA. At some point in their lives they were shoemakers. John, the youngest brother, was married to Orpha Beavers who died in the late 1840's after childbirth. Their three children were, Mary Lenora, Absalom and Thomas (died as an infant. John married again to Elizabeth Shinn from VA/West VA (Tyler County). They had several children after 1850 in Dubuque and Missouri. They were: Jenny Lind (died young), Alleyn Gertrude, Rose May, George F, John C., Susan Hattie (Harriet), Minnie W., Frances Marion, Frank, Laura and Maggie. There is another person on list researching the family of George W. Cain and there is another researcher, maybe not on this list, researching, Abasalom. I am hopeful that perhaps someone else might be working on this family. Thank you, Judith K. Arthur ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone.
