I am interested in that Cain book, too. I have a John Cain, b. 1819 in Virginia, his brother, George W. Cain, b. 1812, and Absalom b. 1813. Supposedly, they came from the "Shenandoah" area of VA. Their mother was Susan who died in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1866. This family came first to Highland County, OH, then on to Duguque by the 1850 census. Could they be in that book? Judith K. Arthur

My great-grandmother was Martha W. J. Kimbrough Conner. Her second husband was Washington Conner of Adair Co. MO and his first wife was Celia Cain. My great grandmother, Martha, helped raise part of their children as well as her own. I found all my information about the Cains in the book I purchased titled: William Cross of Botetount Co. VA and His Descendants 1733-1932 by john N. Cross and Mary Cross Cole. Their is a lot of information about the Cains, Conners, etc. in that book so if you haven't read it, you might like to send for it on microfilm at the LDS (Mormon) Library. I purchased a copy of it from a book company. Good luck on your research of the Cain family.

Mark is coming to Mo with his father and we plan to visit our mutual grandmother's grave-ceclia steelman cain. how much do you know about the steelman's? did you know that you are swedish in descendant? I have tried to trace the cains back by the migration of the steelman family. I have learned that thomas's father was daniel thomas cain which would be from where your grandfathe got his name. There I am stuck. The cain's came out of kent co delware and that was Pa in the old days. Your other family names that I have found out are stille, smith and adams which are on the steelman side. What area of the country do you reside in? Would you like to visit ceclia grave and meet your kissing cousins? I would be glad to share any information i have.--your kissing cousin lynn
