Greetings, I've been slowly but surely adding to the Humboldt County website and thought I would give an overview of recent additions and solicit suggestions. The main page is here: http://www.qworld.net/humboldt/index.html I have recently added a page for "Humboldts" all over -- there three Humboldt Counties in the US altogether, and a myriad of Humboldts in general. These are all listed and linked to at: http://www.qworld.net/humboldt/humboldt.html I added a sitemap that lists all of the pieces and parts of the Humboldt County site: http://www.qworld.net/humboldt/sitemap.html I added the Rootsweb SSDI to the website with a page of explanation on using the SSDI in your research: http://www.qworld.net/humboldt/ssdi.html My work in serious progress is Humboldt County Placenames: http://www.qworld.net/humboldt/placenames.html I'm through "E" right now. These pages feature a descriptions, any relevant links, and with the help of Expedia & USGS, maps to the locations. I recently purchased digital topo maps for all of Humboldt County and am hoping to do maps for specific locations such as churches, schools, etc. After living there for 10 years, I'm constantly surprised at what I *don't* know. If anyone has information to contribute, I would be grateful for it. I would also like to feature homepages relevant to Humboldt County researchers, so you if you have one, please send the URL. Also, as the California Census Project Coordinator, there are transcription projects galore that would be of terrific benefit to researchers. If you have old humboldt county history books, biographies, bible records, obits, etc... and have time to transcribe, the entire project would be highly grateful for your contributions.
