When I was a kid in Eureka, the truant officer was Mrs. Lambert. I think that she was a local person. What I remember was that she had a daughter named Lacey who was a few years younger than I, I thought it was such a cool name. Also there was a Danielson's men's Store on 4th Street. There was a Buck's Tavern in Arcata.
