In "History of Humboldt County," by Leigh Irvine (1915), it says in the biological section (lion's share of the book) about Joseph Edward Merriam (born 1856, came to Humboldt County 1884): "An interesting possession of Mr. Merriam, and one in which he has spent much time and effort, is a book in which he has recorded the name of every family in Blue Lake, the date on which they took up their residence there, where they came from, who they are, and such other valuable and available information as he deems of interest." Does anybody know if this book is still in existence. I would like to say if my grandmother's family is mentioned in it (Dollina Cole), and I'm sure other denizens of this mailing list would be interested in its contents, too. BTW, if anybody is curious if their relative is mentioned in the 1200 page book mentioned above, give me the name[s] and I'll check.
