Gaynor (could possibly be spelled, Gayner, Gainor). He was born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada, in January 1860 or 1862. Both his parents were born in Ireland, though his parents were small children traveling with their parents from Ireland to Canada. Patrick died mysteriously in Panama in 1915 (I'm trying to obtain a death certificate from Panama -- got a contact there). Patrick immigrated to U.S. via Pennsylvania, so the story goes, creating, building, maintaining and possibly owning lumber mills. There's an article in Humbolt newspaper (Arcata Union?) in 1894 (don't have a date) that he "purchased the business of James Creek store and taken a lease on all of the belongings of the company." According to the paper, he had been in California 8 years (I'd like to obtain a copy of that article). Immigration must have taken place between 1880 and 1890. I did find on the internet a 1900 Census. From this Census ther! e is some question as to whether he was married twice. There is a 1920 Census that lists his (possible) 2nd wife and she's listed as a widow. There's only a small window of time here with the 1890 Census information destroyed. If this is too much work for you, just let me know. I am most appreciative for all that you are offering thus far. Sincerely, Deborah Gaynor
