Edeline, 1983 (Copyright: The Ferndale Museum, Inc.), there is a photo (pg. 67) of about 45 pupils of Grant School 1903/1904. Only 17 names among which are “Fritz Muller, Amel Muller, Freda ? Muller”. Page 68, Grant School Photo - 1910 has “Emil Mueller” who appears to be about 13 years old. That’s just a guess; good looking and sturdy. No Muellers in 1911 photo (31 students). Page 69, Grant School - 1913 has 28 students, with Emil Mueller a tall (and very handsome) 16- or 17-year-old. The tallest in the class. No Muellers in “Grant School Photo Circa 1915”. Page 147. Photo and biography of Jacob Justin SAGE (1844-1926) says, “His children born in Ohio, were: Margaret (never married), Serena (m. 1890 to Herman MUELLER), Mary (m. 1891 to Peter CANEPA), Meda (m. 1894 to Smith HART), and John (m. 1894 to Frankie MILLER). His (Jacob’s) children born in the Eel River Valley were: William A., Belle, Lena, Ruby (these four never married) and James, who had the Petrolia Store in February 1902 (m. Dora RASMUSSEN).” Eel River refers to the Ferndale area. If you find that you tie in with Jacob Sage, I can give you the rest of his bio. Jacob Sage’s wife was Martha VAUGHT (1849-1920). FERNDALE ...THE VILLAGE 1875-1893, Denis P. Edeline, 1987 (Copyright: The Ferndale Museum, Inc.) has information on Herman J. Mueller. Most of the material concerns various businesses he was involved in. Here I have picked out some personal information. Page 100. “...Mr. Mueller, a native of Germany, was a single man, 27 years of age.” This in 1889. Page 102. “...Mr. Mueller was 26 years old and had married Serena Sage in the fall of 1890. A daughter, Muriel, was born to them during his first year at the store.” ... “With the assistance of his brother, Mr. Mueller supplied the store with a fine selection of furniture that had been selected and shipped from San Francisco.” So, Herman had a brother in Ferndale. Who? No real answers here, but more clues for you. Maggie, in Ferndale, Humboldt Co, CA
