    3. Danette Low: First off, after searching for nearly an hour, for your Obit pm Ambers/Ambrose Hill Moore on or shortly after 22 January 1945, I gave up and went to search the CADI on microfiche. I discovered that yu had the date of death wrong, it was actually about a year later! I went back to the newspapers on microfilm, and searched some more. There was no Death Notice, Funeral Announcement nor Card of Thanks in the newspaper. I did eventually discover an news article in the Humboldt Times of 2 February, 1946. Only to discover that he did not die in either Blue Lake or Fortuna, as you had surmised!! He died in a fire in an area then known as Thorn, noe Known as Whitethorn. Just west of Garberville. Known these days primarily as a refuge of people wanting to be left along, many of them becasue they manufacture or grow illegal substances. I have a photocopy of the article, and will sned it to you when Ihave your mailing address. Says: THREE BURN TO DEATH IN CABIN FIRE AT THORN Coroner W. Lloyd Wallace reported yesterday that three persons were burned to death at Thorn late Thursday night. The three were identified as Ambrose Moore, A Mrs. Hinshaw and her fou8r-year-old grandson, Leon Chase. William Parr, a neighbor t the Moore cabin, discovered the fire and reported the blaze to the deputy sheriff at Garberville who summonred Coroner Wallace. Wallace said that the cabin was completely destroyed and that th4e three bodies were badly burned. Investigation revealed that the fire probably started from, burning wood that head been placed in pans on the floor to heat the cabin. As it turned out, I spent over $100 of time, but saved you he $8.00 cost of the death certificate <G>.
