Hello, Can anybody look up obits for the following two ladies (my grandmother and great-grandmother): Esther Sylvia (Nelson) Shannon Welch (probably "Esther Welch" in the obit), born 1/23/1912, died 3/5/1997 Emma Laura (Silva) Nelson, born 1892, died 12/25/1986 Clay Shannon, currently researching specific stirps of the families Shannon, Kollenborn, Branstuder, Huddleston, Gorham, Bailey, Patton, Silva, Myers, Nelson, Green, and Lucky (Wiyot, Wintu, or Wailakki "Indian")
Can anybody find for me an obit for Dollie Shannon, who died either in the hospital in Trinity or Humboldt County or at home in Hoaglin Valley (Trinity)? She was my grandfather's second wife; as such, the family doesn't seem to know that much about her--just that she was born somewhere in New York, her maiden name was Cole, and she had married a Johnson before marrying Theodore Roosevelt "Pop" Shannon. Dollie lived in Blue Lake and was a graduate of a culinary academy. She died somewhere between the mid-1980s and early 1990s--sorry I can't be more specific. Although she was not "blood," she was a great lady--and her cinnamon rolls were by far the best this world has ever tasted. Clay Shannon, currently researching specific stirps of the families Shannon, Kollenborn, Branstuder, Huddleston, Gorham, Bailey, Patton, Silva, Myers, Nelson, Green, and Lucky (Wiyot, Wintu, or Wailakki "Indian")
Can someone send me the text of Esther Silva (Nelson) Shannon Welch's obituary (she died 1997 in Eureka)? Clay Shannon, currently researching specific stirps of the families Shannon, Kollenborn, Branstuder, Huddleston, Gorham, Bailey, Patton, Silva, Myers, Nelson, Green, and Lucky (Wiyot, Wintu, or Wailakki "Indian")

They list names and address and I would WRITE not call each and every one of them, explain what you are trying to do and that you would like MEDICAL HISTORY. The man might not even KNOW he is the dad and it would be nice to break a grown kid to him gently. I have found phone calls while fast and easy are often a source of irritation for the person who gets them they think they are prank calls and hang up etc. a letter is less threatening. Anyway, that would be where i would start, and then go from there with follow up calls from those you don't hear from. Checking on the birth indexes for him does little good as he may not even have been born in california. I did check the death index and didn't seem to find him listed there. Also the phone book has no listing for him either. Hope this is a little help genzi founder cgc http://groups.yahoo.com/group/californiagenealogy
