China Flat was near Willow Creek. There is a museum in Willow Creek called the China Creek Museum. Manila is a little town which still exists across the bay from Eureka on the Samoa Peninsula. I have never heard of Acorn and there are several places in the county referred to as Redwood Creek.

I don't know what happened to my answer to you. Did you get it? I checked the library today for an obit for you. I just realized that I must have transcribed his date of death wrong. I checked in the paper for a death around Feb. 9, which I had then also around May 18 which is the date I got somewhere else online. The next time I go to the library I will look again for May 9, 1939 Sorry for the mixup. Unfortunately, our local wonderful transcriber, Marilyn Keach Milota has got only as far as December, 1947 in her compilations for Humboldt County deaths.
