Hello Humboldt County, I have a letter in progress to the Trinidad Museum, but realize I don't know the address. Can anyone help me there? Burning question #1 is---> Where is the record book that records the preemptive claims for Trinidad? I have land the deed where my G-Grandfather sells the property just north of Trinidad, but I can't find the record where he acquires/buys it. Burning question #2 is---> Where can I find the names and records of the founders of Trinidad? If this G-Grandfather really was on that first rowboat that came ashore I would really like to prove it. Any help is welcome. Bonnnie Ryder Bliss San Jose, CA
I wanted to thank everyone for their information on the Falk family. I did not know Jonas Falk died at the old state hospital in Ukiah (where I graduated from high school). That info actual led to some other very revealing information. I also wanted to set the record straight as to Elijah being the father of Jonas. Actual Noah, Elijah and Jonas were brothers originally from Mt. Cory, Hancock Co., Ohio. Noah came out to California in 1852 in search of gold and found his fortune in the redwoods instead. Elijah was a machinist who work (possibly built) in a sawmill back in Ohio. Noah convinced Elijah to join him in Eureka. Jonas was the youngest living brother who came to California last with his wife, Louise Wasser and daughter Bessie after his parents passed away in Ohio, around 1883. Jonas was sawyer and foreman at the Elk River mill of which Elijah was controlling stockholder and he was also head sawyer at the Newberg mill for about 5 years. Anyway, thanks for the info. Hi neighbors!! I was at the LDS in Eureka the other day and the man working there as a volunteer told me they plan to open a new LDS center in McKinleyville within the next few months!!!!! I am very delighted by this news being I live in Trinidad and it is not so easy (nor desirable) for me to travel to Eureka everytime I need to have a gawk. Anyway, the new LDS center will be at the new Mormon Temple they built there on Central Avenue. I am searching for information on Josiah A. (b6-1850 in Michigan) and Antha L. Hanks Morse (b7-1849 in VT) and their daughter Pearl Morse (b4-1883 in MN) I know they lived in California, and are buried there, but I am not sure where. Pearl married John Nelson and had 1 daughter, Lydia Nelson. Pearl later married ? Mckinney who was in a wheelchair. He left her. She later married ? Martin. Pearl lived in Santa Barbara in the 1930's, but I don't know if she died there. Happy New Year from South Dakota. Thank you.
