You need more info, so you need to do a little more research closer at hand. First you need to search for your father's birth cert. and other documents to lead you to more information on his parents. All you need to get his birth info is to write to the county seat where he was born and request a form to get a copy. They cost about 12 bucks. in the mean time i have found alittle info on the Fraticelli side that might prove interesting while still proving nothing. Helen: My guess is that he probably played for the Korbel team, if he still lived in the Freshwater area. at that time. I can think of two areas to explore. You might contact the Humboldt Historical Society as they have a collection of photographs. Another idea would bo to contact the Simpson Lumber COmpany, to see if they have anything left from Korbel-era photos. If that fails, perhaps the old newspapers on microfilm may have something, but it would take lots of time to sit and go through reels and reels of microfilm. Linda: Everyone in the Eureka area has access to old newspapers at the main Humboldt County Library, On Microfilm. The next time that I am at the library I will take a look for you. May be a few days. Very few cemeteries in our are have bee indexed in books, and mot of those ae of such poor quality workmanship as to be useless. For burials in 1972 the best bet is probably the Oceanview/Sunset/Bucksport/St. Bernard's complex. It is owned by a large corporation, that calls itself "Dignity." but actually has another corporate name. The only book for them is their own, located at the cemetery office. Deaths in our county are collected in a series of books by one Marilyn Keach Milota (a friend of mine). The most recent one covers 1926 to 1935.. She is still working on them, but probably will never get to the 1970's!. I will get back to you in a few days. Greetings, Searching for information on logging camp & photographer that took a photograph of a logging camp in Humboldt Co, copyrighted 1905 or 1908 by -- ? ? Meier? -- It appears to be redwood logging camp, work crew, horses, superintendent/foreman, maybe, the owner, and huge felled tree. It looks like a crew of 11 men and two management individuals; the two men in the forefront look like they may be the owner and superintendent. One of these two men is Delvin Drake. Does anyone know how I may locate information on this photo, etc. etc. etc. My primary search is Delvin Drake who is a great uncle of my father's or my grandfather's, not sure which. Thank you, Mrs. LDrakeCraig
