Hello everyone, I have a question about the wives of Leonhart and am confused about a couple of postings by Nancy Jane. Hi Nancy! We know the first wife was Maria Elizabetha who died. They had a child Maria Margarita. Records at the baptism of Johann Theobald in 1726 indicate that his mother was Susanna and Leonhart was the father. Next, in 1728 in Trippstadt, Leonhart is named in a baptismal record as a Godparent to Maria Elizabetha Bushung daughter of Johan Andreas Bushung and his wife Maria Elizabetha. Here is the record as posted by Nancy: Baptismal register 1728, taippstadt, the 14th day of March 1728, Johan Andreas Bushung, and his wife Maria Elizabetha , a daughter named Maria Elizabetha. God parents Leonhart Kegel, of mehlingen, Germany and Maria Magdalena, Johann Henrich Schmalenberger's young wife Veronia Phillipp. My question is who is Maria Magdalena and why is she,and not Susanna, associated with Leonhart as a Godparent to this child?
