Rebecca was the sister of Lindsey Cagle who was married to Mahulda Pruitt, and where the parents of David C. Cagle ( David C. Cagle and Barthena Schooling were first cousins). 1880 Lawrence MO. Mt. Pleasant Township #401/406 Cagle, David 36 KY KY KY Farmer Barthena 36 MO KY SC Keeping House /"sick with chills" William 13 MO KY MO At School Thanks for this good information on this Motley line which is my line. My g-g-grandparents were Lindsey and Mahuldah (Pruitt) Cagle. My g-grandfather was Leonard Cagle, their son and brother of the above mentioned David Cagle. I've seen it stated, several times, that David Cagle's wife, Barthena Schooling, was the daughter of John L. and Rebecca Cagle Schooling. I don't believe this to be accurate. Barthena is listed in the 1860 census, Lawrence Co., Mt. Pleasant Township, Missouri, in the household of (William) Fountain and Rachel Schooling, not the household of John and Rebecca Schooling. John L. and Rebecca are living in the Vineyard Township in 1860, which is just north of Mt. Pleasant. Also, the oldest son of David and Barthena's was named William Fountain Cagle, an indication of a close relationship to William Fountain Schooling. Lynda West Hahn
