Hi List, I need help in trying to figure out a puzzle? I found a J. L. Smith living with Jacob Cagle and Mary Bird, in the 1850 Census, for Grundy County, TN. I believe this J. L. Smith to be John L. Smith son of James Smith, but I don't know what the connection is in this case. I have my own ideas, but would really like to have my thoughts verified by someone who knows the connection.
