    1. Re: [CAGLE] Red River, Co; Tx.
    2. Earl Cagle
    3. Lee & List, My connection to Red River Co; Tx; comes from my G-Uncle William Cagle, who was born December 24, 1853 in Marion Co; Ar. He married Louisa Elizabeth Risenhoover born September 19, 1854. They were married in Walnut Ridge; Ar; on November 16,1873. William Cagle, was a younger brother of my g-grandfather Thomas William Cagle, who was born in Hickman Co; Tn; on April 01, 1840. My stumbling block is with his wife. On their marriage record she was listed as Mary Elvira Cagle, so I have to assume her maiden name was Cagle. They married in Alton Oregon Co; Mo; on July 24, 1877. They first appear together in the 1880 Census, Oregon Co; Mo; Oak Grove Twp. Their first born son is with them he was William Cagle, listed as age 1. Their next appearance is in the 1900 Census of Mississippi Co; Mo; Tywappity Twp. Cagle, Thomas 59 b. July 1840 TN ( this differs his tombstone says 4-01-1840) Mary 39 b. Aug. 1860 AR William 21 b. Nov. 1878 MO Marcus 19 b. Jan. 1881 MO ( this differs his tombstone says 1-30-1880, and family records also give this date. His full name was Marquis DeLafayette Cagle Sr; and he was my grandfather) Luke 10 b. July 1889 MO Ida M. 4 b. Nov. 1895 MO My g-grandmother's full name was Mary Alvira Cagle, and her middle name was also spelled Elvira. She didn't appear in the next census of 1910 with her family. T.W. Cagle appears in the 1910 census of Hickman Co; Tn; Listed with him is his son Luke Cagle, and daughter Ida Mae Cagle. So either Mary, died between 1900-1910, or left home for unknown reasons. There is a tombstone in Lanes Chapel Cemetery marked Mary A. Cagle, with no dates. John G. Cagle, writes a good article on my family in the November 1996 issue. So Lee, if you have this issue it shows more detail. One grave in the Lanes Chapel plot is marked Great Grandmother Cagle. John & I think this may be William's mother, Mary (Paton)Cagle. Buried along with William & Elizabeth (Risenhoover ) Cagle, are some of their children. The Mary A. Cagle, buried there as of this date is unknown to me and John G. Cagle. She may have went there in the early 1900,s for an unknown reason and later died there. I wrote to the County Clerk there in Clarksville, Tx; in the early 1990's and she sent me a newspaper clipping about William & Elizabeth's 50th. wedding anniversary. This is also copied in John's Nov. 1996 Cagle Journal. My g-grandfather T.W. Cagle left Hickman Co; Tn; after the 1910 census, and died in Charleston Mississippi Co; Mo; on August 29,1917. He is buried in The Oak Grove Cemetery there. His wife Mary A. Cagle, isn't buried there unless it is an unmarked grave. So to this date she is still my brick wall. Was her maiden name Cagle, or was this a mistake by the register of marriages in Oregon Co; Mo.? If she is a Cagle, then what line does she come from? And last where is she buried?
