    3. David, I have not personally researched this; however, this is contained in John G Cagle's publications. It appears the county lines were changing and what was once Mecklenburg became Cabarrus. Charles surveyed land in 1767 in old Cumberland County, NC. The 1767 Survey in old Cumberland County was located on Little Buffalo Creek, where Leonard Cagle, his nephew, who purchased a tract of 200 acres on the East side of Little Buffalo Creek on Oct 24, 1768 and Leonard Cagle, who received a land grant for 200 acres on the same stream on Dec 22, 1768. Jacob Stutz (Stutts), Charles' neighbor in 1767, a German immigrant, had lived near the Cagles in Oley Twp, in Berks Co., PA, in the 1750s, also relocated to this area about the same time. Enoch Cagle married Jacob Stutz daughter, Nancy. It appears that he did not attempt to follow through and obtain a land grant; rather, he left the county and moved westward, and by 1770 had obtained land in the Rocky River area of old Mecklenburg (Cararrus) Co., NC; he was later joined in that area by his brother David Cagle. >From the 1770s to mid-1790s, Charles, the presumed father of Leonard Cagle, 1770s-1840s, was a neighbor of George Tucker Sr., in the Rocky River area of Cabarrus County, and it might be speculated that Leonard Cagle had married George Tucker's daughter in that county. In the mid-1790s, Charles sold his land in Cabarrus Co and moved to nearby Montgomery (Stanly) Co., NC, near the homestead on Stoney Run of George Cagle, Sr 1848-1825. There he lived in the Island Creek area and there he died in 1801. Best Regards, Lee Cagle Okla City -- "David Cagle" <dcagle1@charter.net> wrote: Lee, A couple of questions. 1. If the Leonard ,1740-1749, below was the son of Leonard the immigrant would not he have been born in PA? 2. Re the birthplace of the son Leonard, were the Cagles in Mecklenburg Co., NC by 1770?
