    3. Cagles, It has taken me two or three days to find the information I was looking for on David Cagle and his Wife. In 1764, David Cagle began the process to obtain a grant of 100 acres in Cumberland Co., NC. The grant was finally made on 1767. Then on 20 July 1769, David and his wife Catherine Cagle of Rowan Co., NC sold this 100 acres to William Smith of Cumberland Co. NC. This information was found in the April and May issues of the "Cagle Journal" by John G. Cagle. John had produced a copy of the original document as recorded in the court house which leaves no doubt about the wife of David. Witnesses to the deed were John (Dutchman) Cagle; Simon Hart and George Cagle. It appears that we have three brothers married to someone name Catherine, Katherine or Caterina.
