Board Members, I have really enjoyed working with you the past few weeks. Before I just read posts and worked on my projects. I must say how much nicer it has been with everyones comments. I have just finished my Knoxville canvass and talked to about 39 different families. It was fun in that a few really knew who I was. Some of them were in my Henry line. One from Alabama. Two from Cocke County which is my weakest research. I consider myself a specialist on Eastern Tennessee. I would solicite anyone's help on Cocke County. Like who is Otties grand father??? Anyone can email me direct to ashleycagle1908@sbcglobal.net Ashley
Anyone can email me direct to ashleycagle1908@sbcglobal.net Ashley, Keep it on the board, we are all interested even though we don't comment sometimes. I also have Tennessee Cagle connections and know a bit about the Cagles in the southeast part of west Tennessee here along the Tennessee river. Ottie's grandfather is Bill Cagle and his grandmother is Maranda. He's shown living with them along with his father (Robert or Bob) and mother(Fanny and in later census records Finie) in the 1910 census for Cocke Co. Tennessee. Of course they're listed under Cogle instead of Cagle. Next door is a family headed by Jesse and Nancy J. Cagle (Cogle). Tried to find this family in 1900 by tracing the children, but several of their children's names are the same as Neverson Cagle's family in Chester Tn. I don't even know if Chester Co. is close to Cocke Co. and Neverson Cagle was from Georgia so I may not even be close. Since you're the Tennessee expert, may some of these names mean something to you. The only one familiar to me was Neverson because of the GA connection. But there's his grandparents anyway. BTW - Earl, thank you for the package. I still say a lot of Dr. Walker's information is way off, but he might have something about Henry Cagle. Still checking. Again, Thanks. Thanks for the reply. This one has bugged me for a long time. I always thought Bob was a Robert. As forMaranda: 1870 United States Federal Census about Maranda Cagle Name:Maranda Cagle Estimated birth year:abt 1848 Age in 1870:22 Birthplace:Tennessee Home in 1870:District 13, Cocke, Tennessee Family and neighbors:View Results Race:White Gender:Female Value of real estate:View image Post Office:Big Creek Depot Does not show Bill and cant read the census 1870 1910 United States Federal Census about Bice Cogle Name:Bice Cogle [Bill Cogle] Age in 1910:67 Estimated birth year:abt 1843 Birthplace:Tennessee Relation to Head of House:Head Father's Birth Place:Tennessee Mother's Birth Place:Tennessee Spouse's name:Maranda Home in 1910:Civil District 9, Cocke, Tennessee Marital Status:Married Race:White Gender:Male Neighbors:View others on page Household Members:NameAge Bice Cogle67 Maranda Cogle67 Robt Cogle23 Fannie Cogle20 Ottie Cogle Lot of time between 1870 and 1910. I dont see the Neverson connection as Bill and Maranda are from Tennessee. I did visit with the people who have the Cagle grave yard in Cocke County and they are going to get me an inventory. These people are in Cocke County but not from there. Im thinking with no research about Monroe County because most Cagles of East tennessee went thru there. We will see. There is no real research on this county as no one really made there home there. Had trouble even spelling there name (Cogle). This is what research is all about. Lee, if your behind a log, solve it.
