The Cagles in my line really seemed to stick together and Dora Bishop's appearance close to John Cagle and family . There was almost always at least one child living beside his/her parents. We still do that, actually. My mother stayed here, one mile away from her parents, and her brother moved back as well and I after traveling awhile now live an hour away as well. A lot can be said for home! The threat of the big earthquake from the New Madrid Fault still hasn't managed to run any of us off!! [humor aside...] Let me tell you the main reason I am so curious about the Bishops marrying Cagles. My mother is a Cagle. My father is an Allen. My Cagle family has lived in New Madrid County since before 1850. My Allen family moved to Dunklin County from Kentucky in the 1880s. My great great grandfather Allen married an Ellen Bishop whose mother was said to have married into the Hardin Co., Tennessee Bishops. I'm trying to figure out if a long long time ago, one of my Cagle ancestors intersects with one of my Allen ancestors, by way of the Bishops of course. It may be a completely frivolous project but the subject is just too curious for me to walk away. Besides, I need to work on finding these Bishop ancestors anyway. If you ever become involved with the mystery of who is Dora Bishop Cagle Hayes Smith (and is that the right order??), please let me know.
