    3. Tom: I have searched my index for both and the closest I can come to identifying anyone is a Shadrick Cagle, b. 1838 in Monroe County, TN. He is the son of John N C Cagle, b. 1802 in North Carolina. I have nothing more on Shadrick or his movements after his birth. The name "Shade Waite Cagle" is a rare name and should be easy to find if someone has it. "Watie" was a very popular name around Arkansas, Georgia and particularly Oklahoma among those who were Cherokee or of Cherokee extraction. He was a popular Cherokee Indian leader who was half white. During the civil war he organized a Division of Cherokees and was promoted to Brig Gen in 1864 when he took command. His was the last General Officer Command to surrender his colors for which the Cherokees paid a heavy penalty in retrobution by having to cede thousands of acres of land back to the government. His name was Stand Watie. He was highly respected by both indians and whites, many children being named in his honor both, before the war and after. He is said to have never lost an engagement. I throw this in only because of the simularity of the names. I doubt there is any connection.
