As there has been much on the list regarding Cagle's in the Civil War, I though it would be timely to post an note regarding an ancestor of mine who served in the Rev. War. The following is from "Abstracts of the Rev. War Pension Files" as taken from the National Archives by Virgil D. White. It reads as follows: Cagle, Jacob, Sarah, R1581, NC line, sol appl 29 Jul 1834 Warren Cty TN aged 79, enl in Mecklenburg Cty NC & later moved to Cumberland Cty NC & also enl there & after his srv moved back to Mecklenburg Cty NC for several yrs then moved to Buncombe Cty NC for 8-10 yrs then to Warren Cty TN, sol was b on the head waters of Deep River in NC in Apr 1755, wid appl 9 Mar 1853 Warren Cty TN aged 76 , m in 1820 in Buncombe Cty NC and sol died 14 Aug 1845. END of STATEMENT. He was awarded a pension based on his service and collected his money until his death. The entire pension statement is reproduced in CAGLE FAMILY IN THE SOUTH, TO 1850/Vol.I: North Carolina, and an original copy may be obtained from the National Archives. Dr. Joseph Childress
