    3. Betty: I am extremely interested in your message appearing below. Leonard Cagle b. 1780, d. 1850s is in my direct line. We have known for sometime that he had daughters, all born before 1840, but because of census records only listing heads of households, have never learned who they were. According to census records Leonard did have 4 or maybe, 5 daughters. As you have stated, he was in Franklin County, briefly where he owned land in the NE Corner of GA. The 1823 Tax list of Franklin Co., shows that he owned 134 acres in the county during that year, situated on the Tugalo River. Leonard had bought this land from Chesley Cawthe, the original grantee. In Deedss of Franklin Co., 1784-1826, Mrs Martha Walters Acker indicates that Leonard sold this tract in 1824. "Deed dated Franklin Co., 19 Aug 1824, recorded 18 May 1825, from Leonard Cagle to Wiley D Morgan, both of aforesaid county. In consideration of $300, Leonard Cagle conveys 100 ac. granted to Chesley Cawthon, and 34 ac. adjoining the above and Edwards, on Tugalo River, to Wiley D. Morgan. Signed /s/ Leonard Cagle; Wit: Ben Starritt, Chesley Cawthorn, JP (who was apparently the original grantee)" The other Leonard was still in Anson County, NC in 1825, so this has to be Leonard b. 1780-1850. One sister is Lydia b. 1814, another may be Syntha b. 1811. (This Syntha along with two of her children appeared in Paulding Co., Ga and executed a document appointing a lawyer to act in their stead in the settlement of an estate of Aaron Courier of NC. Also, Signing the same document, was Leonard b. 1780 which causes me and others to speculate this was another of his daughters.) I hope all this rambling is helpful. What do you think? Is it possible your Sarah Cagle may be one of the missing daughters?
