Cagle: From the records of St. Johns Lutheran Church near Dutch Buffalo Creek in Cabarrus Co., Anna Mary Cagle, b. 1794, and John Cagle, b. 17 Jan. 1797, were baptized 28 Jan. 1798. Parents were Velti Cagle and wife, Catherine. If Valentine was born 1750-54, he was probably born in PA. After 1754 to 1759, he was probably born in "Old Rowan, which later became Guilford and is now Randolph Co., NC. The Cagle clan apparently moved from PA to NC 1754-55. Although Valentine's father, David, owned land in Cumberland, later Moore Co., NC, there is no evidence that David ever lived there. Per John G. Cagle. The last record of Valentine Cagle appears to be the 1815 Tax List of Warren Co., TN. Thus his proposed death date. The last record of David Cagle, b. 1728, that I am aware of is his obtaining a Patent on 150 acres of land in Mecklenburg Co., NC, later Cabarrus, dated 2 Nov. 1784. David's son John became the owner of this land in 1789, which suggests a death date for David of 1784-89. I have seen nothing firmer than that.
