Debra, It is my opinion, and I believe that of most, that John "Dutchman" Cagle and David Cagle were brothers. John G. Cagle in his "Cagle Journal" has determined that David Cagle was born in Germany in 1728. The first record of John "Dutchman" Cagle apparently is a Tax record in Berks Co., PA ca 1752-54. These brothers, and others of their family moved to NC ca 1754. Valentine is thought to be the son of David. The will of John "Dutchman Cagle shows: George, Jacob, Henry, Elizabeth Gilmore, Mary Melton, John, William, Susanna, Dorety, and Margaret.
