I was looking over the Joel Mize site and the 56 Cagle's listed with the first Alabama Cavalry. In looking over the site I would have to surmise that the Cagle names listed were not members of the unit, but were probably dependents of members of the 1st Alabama. Many of the Cagle names are women and children, some having been born in 1859 and later. At the present time we only know of 5 Cagles serving in that unit, with a possibility of 2 others whose names were misspelled.
