Who are they and how do they fit into our theory of Leonhardt Kegel being the sole progenitor of us all? Does anyone have a copy of this book or know how to get it? Are these merely Naturalization Records, or did these Cagles actually arrive in South Carolina as immagrants? Lee Cagle 10-27-36 Moore, Oklahoma __________________________________________Lee & List, Although Leonhart Kegel, is most of this list's ancestor, he is not all Cagle's, ancestor. There were Cagle's, known to have immigrated into New Jersey, New Orleans, South Carolina, and other places, Our surname research is like many other peoples. The main difference with us is the rarity of our Cagle, surname. Although not yet proven our Kegel / Cagle, family may have started with one family in Germany. We know Leonhart, was born about 1684 in Germany. His father was probaly born abt. 1640. So the whole Cagle clan, my have started with a large group of brothers. No one knows for sure when surnames, came into use. One theory is that mens surnames, came about from the type of work they were known for. So Lee, there are some Cagle's today, who aren't ancestors of Leonhart. However, for my part I think the majority of us do decend from him. Earl
