David Crockett Cagle, 1835-1923. Originated near Grainesville, Hall Co., GA and married to Mary Herndon, 1839-1926, in 1861. They moved to Winston Co., AL in the 1860s; then, in 1870-1872, moved briefly to Missouri, before appearing in the 1880 census of Independence Co., AR. Prior to 1900, they settled permanently in Leflore Col, Ok. Son William age 7, below (b.1863) lived until 1960. 1870 Winston Co. GA, son of Wm. Cagle, 1797-1881. In 1861 David married Mary Herndon and soon moved to ALA, where they lived in the 1870 Winston County, AL. By 1880 , had moved to Independence Co. AR after a period of residence in Missouri . Later , moved back to Missouri, appearing in 1900 St. Clair Co., Mo. (David C. and Mary Cagle, eventuall settled in LaFlore Co. GA. Was probably son of William Cagle, 1797-1881, of Hall Co.; David may be listed erroneously as "A. Cagle" in 1850 Hall . Dose not seem to appear in the 1860 census, but is known to have married Mary a. Herndon, 1839-1926, of Gainesville, Ga, in Aug. 1861. In the years following, David and wife appeared in 1870 Winston Co. Al ; lived briefly in MO during the 1870s; appeared in 1880 Independence Co., AR, then in 1900 St. Clair Co. Cagle, was living in the home of his son Joseph Newton Cagle, in LeFlore co., Ok. " " " I do not know what family you come off of so here is the rest of the information that is on page 594, Vol II ; John G. Cagle's book. Notes; a number of family were missed in the Choctaw Nation in the 1900 census . and in 1910 LeFlore Co., Ok. among these seem to have been Joseph N. Cagle, in 1900, and James W. Cagle, below, There is a photo of James W. Cagle, 1863-1960, the oldest son of David Crockett Cagle. With him is his son Joseph Theodore Cagle . This photo was sent in by Mrs.Catherine Nowlin, 10638 Sylvia, Dallas, Texas: James W., Born in winston co., ALa, was with his father in the censuses of 1870 Winston , AL. and 1880 Independence Co. Ar. On Nov 16, 1884, James W. married to Mary Sanders, who was 3/4 Indiam, in Indian Territory (now LeFlore Co. OK) Mary died in 1949'; James W. in 1960. James w. Cagle was located in Hartford Twp., Sebastian Co., Ark in 1900, erroneously listed as "John W. Cagle," Has not been located for 1910 : perhaps overlooked by the census taker.
