Mary in SC, You have a good question that has been around for a while now. I think Henry Cagle, Sr., d. 1802, son of Leonhart the emmigrant, is a very good place to start. Henry's will, as per John G. Cagle, does not show a David, but does show: William, Christian, Henry, Peter, John, Jacob, George, Martin, two daughters, Eliza Hubbard, Mary Auman and Daughter-in-law Caterana Cockman. I guess the question is who was the husband of Caterana Cockman if she was a daughter-in-law? Was she married to a deceased son of Henry or was she a daughter of the (a) wife of Henry from a previous marriage to a Cockman? Or was the daughter Caterana, at time of the will, married to a Cockman. That is about a 4-way question. Surely someone close to this family can answer some of these questions.
