My great-great grandmother is Martha Ann Cagle. I have her listed as the child of John D. Cagle born 9 Apr 1800 and Mary (Polly) Carter born 8 Dec 1801. In the information I have there may be a question as to which family Martha Ann Cagle belongs. Recently, I heard from another descendant the Cagle family took her in so she would not have to go on the trail of tears as she was Indian and her name was yellowfeather. I have no documentation other than what I was told. Martha Ann married William Pigroom about the year 1847 near Cleveland, Bradley, TN. They had two children, William and Mary. She deserted William Pigroom and went away with a man named Joe (Joseph) Mee to the state of Arkansas. It is not known whether she ever divorced William Pigroom and married Joseph Mee, but it us supposed she did. She later changed her and the children's names to Ragan to keep William Pigroom from taking her two children by him away from her. They all came back to TN and settled at Post Oak Springs, TN. Have you come across any information regarding this Martha Ann Cagle. If so I would be very interested in it or how I might find it. Thanks.
