Wife was W. Anthoret Thomas 1810-1859 and she is buried in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The Henderson Co., North Carolina Cemetery book on page 76 shows William Thomas Cagle 1806-1885 buried in Row 21 of the Dana church as mentioned. The Cemetery book on page 81 lists Anthoret Cagle 5 Jan 1810-1 Mar 1859 and buried in Row 22 of the Ebenezer church as listed above. Their children are listed in Vol. I as: Frank Cagle; John Cagle; Rebecca Cagle 1830; Robert Cagle 1831-1884 who married Rachel Morrison the daughter of James Morrison; Lavara Jane Cagle who married Robert Corn the son of Peter Corn and Mary Jones; Myra Cagle 1840; Elizha Cagle 1843; Anthoret Cagle 1844 (Cem. book shows her beside her mother d-1857); and William Cagle 1848. William Thomas Cagle's son, Robert (Page 52, article #77), was born in 1831 and died 29 May 1884; married on 31 Dec 1868 to Rachel Morrison born in 1835. Orr's first wife was Lou Emma Cagle, daughter of William Cagle and Catherine Case. Robert and Rachel's third child was William Logan Cagle born 7 Nov 1873 and died 9 March 1937. Mary married Clarence King the son of John King and Debbie King. Kegel-Cagle: The information on Leonhart Kegel is the same as you and others have said. The Heritage book Vol. II, page 182, article #64 then states that Leonhart moved his family sometime during the period of 1754-55 to NC. "In North Carolina the Kegel family lived at first on the upper Deep River near the Moravian settlement in which is now Forsyth County. The name was changed to Cagle. The first Cagle to be born in the South was probably Jacob Cagle 1755-1845) in Rowan County. Jacob was a soldier of thr American Revolution. It is assumed that Leonhart Kegel's sons purchased land in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Leonhart Kegel's sons were: David, who died in the 1780's; John, who died in 1799; and Henry, who died in 1802. The descendants of these men moved west and south becoming the ancestors of the Cagle family in the United States." This came from John G. Cagle's book with his permission according to the article. Article # 65 same page: Leonard Cagle (30 June 1798) did not follow his family into Tennessee but remained in Buncombe Co. in a section that is now Transylvania County. On the 1862 tax list for Trans. Co. he is listed as one of the largest land owners in the Davidson River community. On 19 Jan 1819, he married Mary Osborne b-6 Sept 1797, the daughter of Jeremiah Osborne (1772-1857) and Ann Blythe (1771-1837). He died at his home on 8 Aug 1866 and Mary died 16 June 1869. They are buried beside each other at the old Davidson River Cemetery (in Trans. Co. I presume). Also buried in the family plot are daughters Margaret, and Ruth Elvira, and their son James Henry and his wife Rachel. Children of Leonard and Mary Cagle: Nancy 1820-1898 married John Summey 1816-1886 Margaret 1822-1830 Charles H. 1824-1908 married Margaret Elvira Richardson 1825-1893 and moved to Mississippi. Rebecca Louise 1835-1897 married first Otis L. Fleenor and second Benjamin Merrell 1824-1901. James Henry 1837-1922 married Rachel Emma Young 1841-1923. Went to Tn and joined the Union Forces of the Third North Carolina Mounted Infantry Civil War. Served as Recruiting Officer. Returned home on 22 March 1866, married his childhood neighbor and sweetheart Rachel, daughter of Strawbridge Young 1797-1874 and Martha Ann Gash 1804-1885.
