The records of indenture form the 1824 Court of Burke co. reads as follow: "Jacob Keagle now nine years of age, minor son of John Keagle, deceased, bound to Henry Tritt until 21 years of age, to be taught to read, write and cypher ... to be taught the trade of a blacksmith, to recover with his freedom a good set of blacksmith tools, one store suit of clothes and home made shirt. " In later era, Jacob Cagle, at the age of 35, was enumerated in the 1850 census of Pike county, Missouri. Whether he ever lived in Haywood Co., NC is not known, nor has his location for the 1860 census been verified.) under them is a this family.
