John (Sr.)3 Cagle (Johan Theobald "David" Kegel *2, (Leonhart Kegell ) Leonard *1) was born 1743 in Stanly County , North Carolina, and died 1826 in Robertson County, Tennessee. Jacob4 Cagle, born 1770 in Moore County , North Carolina; died 1836 in Jasper County, (Berry County,) Missour. He married (1) Unknown. He married (2) Lucy Darrough May 01, 1826 in Davidson County, Tennessee. Notes for Jacob Cagle: Jacob Cagle married Lucy Darrough in Davidson County, Tennessee in 1826. By the 1830 they had moved their family to Sangamon County, IL., and from there moved to Barry Co. (Present Jasper) by the mid 1830s. Then in 1836 , Jacob made a Will naming sons Martin , John, David, and Jacob Elias. It is thought that Martin was born to Jacob's first wife , and the three younger ones of Lucy. Jacob died about 1838, and Lucy returned to Tennessee where she was listed in the 1840 census of Dickson County, Tennessee. Later she married Elida Burns, and returned to Jasper County, MO. Margaret L. F. Cagle who was age 11 in the 1850 census was the youngest child of Jacob , born near the time of Jacob's death or perhaps even after his death. Matthew Cagle of 1850 Jasper County, Mo. , later appeared in the census of Dickson County, Tennessee, under the name name Matthew J. J. Cagle , (if one of his middle names were John, prehaps he was the John mentioned in Jacob's 1836 Will.
