He seems to have appeared in 1830 census of Henry Co. TN., then in 1840 Census of Graves Co., KY and finally in 1850 Census of Hickman Co., KY. The identity of Eli Cagle is uncertain; Adam seems to have had an Eli Cagle (1850 fulton, KY), but was listed an only age 19 in 1850Thus may be a different Eli, unless the age of Eli, 45, above is incorrect in 1860. Adam moved to JOhnson Co., IL sometime during the 1860s; see 1870 census of Johnson, IL. Son Pleasant C., above, is probably identical to the man listed as "Ped" Cgale, age 24, in 1870 Johnson col, Il, outsied the town of Tunnel Hill. Note Adam and descendats in the Johnson Co. Located in the Bethlehem Ceme, Tunnel Hill Twp., sec 8, in the northern part of Johnson Co. near Lake Egypt and the Williamson Co. line. Buried near Adam and wife are their sons Benjamin & Demiah, and nearly 20 of the younger Cagle descendants. 1910 Johnson , Il. Cagel, 1823-1912. Benj. b. June 27, 1823 in TN , is shown holding his gr grandson , Zuni Bradley. Benjamin's wife , Hannah, b. June 02, 1822, had died on Sept. 23 , 18888 at age 66. Benj. died on Geb. 10, 1912. at the age of 88, buried at Bethlehem Cemetery, Johnson Co., IL. this information was sent into John G. Cagle's book by Mr. Arnold Bradley, and he provided the photos and information below. "Ben and family moved to southern ILL. in 1860. On Dec. 3, 1860 Ben pruchased 40 acres in sec. 7/T.11S/R.3E in Johnson Co. on April 5, 1861 he added 20 acres to his farm. Between 1860 and 1880 Ben bought and sold several parcels of land in tunnel Hill twp. Johnson Col Benjamin & Hannah had 3 children , all born in KY; Robert W. born 1844, Mary J, b 1847, and Martha, b 1849. Hannah died sept. 23, 1888 Ben remarried a 2nd time to Mrs Julia Quales, 50, in 1889, later divorced . Ben lived with his son robert during his later years. At the age of 88 he could still walk 3 or 4 miles with the aid of a can. However, during these years he often complained that he was tired of living, had nothing to do and wondered why the "Good Lord" didn't take him.
