It is possible, however, that none of these families actually lived within the boundaries of modern Mecklenburg. For example, those Cagles who were enumerated in 1790 Meklenburg actually lived in tath protion of the county which was formed into Cabarrus county, 1792. Similarly, there is some evidence to suggest that those listed in 1810, 1830, and 1840 could have lived in taht protion of Mecklenburg which was formed into Union Co. in 1842; however, futher research needs to be done on this topic before making a final judgment. Those who appeared in 1790 Mecklenbrug were as follows: 1790 mecklenburg, NC; Cagle, Charles 2-3-5 p.161/dist 12 (d.1801, Montgomery , NC Charles Jr 1-0-1 " (1800 Buncombe , NC John 2-3-6 p. 162/Dist 12 (To Davidson, TN by 1804) Henry 1-4-1 " 14 (1800 Cabarrus, NC Notes: In the original census-book , those Cagles enumerated in Dist 12 were listed as "Caegle". John Cagle is believed to have been the son of David Cagle , who owned land on Bear Creek in cumberland (now Moore) Co. in 1764, and later moved to Mecklenburg co. by the early 1780's. David , who is not in the 1790 census, may have been dead by 1790. Charles who like John was born ca. 1745-50, also may have been a son of David : Charles , as a young man had owned land in Cumberland co. as early as 1767. The relation of Henry (b. 1760-65) to John and Charles is uncertian ; perhaps he was a younger brother , or a nephew. 1810, 1830, 1840 mecklenburg, NC 1810; Cagle , John 2101-2021 p. 046 1830 Caigle, John 100001001-10001001 p.308 1840 Cagle , Henry 20001-0001 p.267 It is assumed that John Cagle of 1810 Mecklenburg was identical to John of 1830 Mecklenburg. His identity is undertain: some fell he was the son of either Charles or John of 1790 Mecklenburg. Similarly, Henry of 1840 has yet to be identified. I do not know if this will help or not : Nancy jane Tarzana, Ca April 1945 --part1_7a6a2b5d.24c69749_boundary--
