Hi Earl and cousins, My sincere apologies for my infrequent appearence here. I have been over worked with personal problems at home lately. I do have a serious question I hope someone here can help me with though. Since the beginning of my research two years ago on my Cagle lines, I have relied on a personal letter from John G. Cagle, written in 1982, which stated that Leonard Cagle b. abt 1780, was the father of my gggrandfather Benjamin Franklin Cagle, b. 1819 in NC. John G. and I share Benjamin Franklin Cagle as a common gggrandfather. A subsequent phone message from John G. Cagle verified this to me two years ago. A later analysis and paper by Gerri Cagle George, agreed with this and sent census records of the families in that time. She did state however that there were apparently two Leonard Cagles in the same areas at the same time. Gerri has done much research in this area, and she also shares Benjamin F. as a common gggranfather with John and I. They both are from Benjamin F. Jr., while I am from his sister Anna Caroline Cagle. John G. states Leonard was born circa 1780 in either Moore, Mecklenburg, or Montgomery county in NC. He then tracks him through the years down to Chattooga County, Ga in 1850. age 70 in that census. I have copies of all these censuses. It appears now, however that there was a Leonard Cagle who continued on to Arkansas and had further children there. I have, somewhere in my mess of files, a gedcom from a California family which lists this Leonard as their ancestor, verified by Bible records they list. These records also record their Leonard as father of Benjamin Franklin Cagle. I think they are in error, but need help proving it. I feel that our Leonard died in GA,and is buried there. At age 70, the time would not seem to allow for another family in Arkansas. Can anyone here help me straighten this mess out. How about it John Speight, you called it a mess once. Help..., I'm hung up and can't get past Leonard. In my second post, I will attempt to explain my thoughts on the name Kegel and it's origin. Best wishes to all, Doyle http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/7886 Family site http://www.my-ged.com/sterkkn Gendex site
