My maternal grandfather, James Vinis Davis was, according to his tombstone, born June 3, 1887, Boone Co., AR to MARY ELIZABETH CAGLE and her husband, John Preston Davis, who according to Boone Co. marriage records, were married June 8, 1888. MARY ELIZABETH CAGLE, born ca. 1869, in Tennessee to WASHINGTON ELL CAGLE who was b. Aug. 23, 1848, perhaps in Tennessee. He died. Aug. 22, 1922, and is buried at Lead Hill, AR. I believe WASHINGTON ELL CAGLE's wife was a Nancy Smith (when and where? Who were her parents?). Now I am at my brick wall. Who are the parents and grandparents of WASHINGTON ELL CAGLE? I believe his father was John Cagle, or perhaps John Jacob Cagle. I think Washington Ell's mother was Sallie (Sara) Brown, a daughter of Tommie Brown and Celia Green.
