I hope someone that knows the German language comes up with another meaning of CAGLE, KEGILL, KAIGLE, whatever, that is a little better than Cone or Pin? I once saw a definition that mentioned stumps or stubs or something like that. Keep up the good work, David Hardin Co., TN ___________________ David & List, Yes, David & Henry Sr; are sons of Leonhart Kegel. This theory of how Kegel's, got there surname is one theory. The other is the maker of Keg's i.e. Barrell Maker, Beer & Whiskey. Germans are world known for their beer making. In my search of Cagle's, I came across these that came from "Passenger and Immigration Lists Index" by William Filby & Mary K.Meyer: Kegeler, John G. Philadelphia, PA 1827 Kegelin, Maria " " 1795 Kegelman, Leonhard age 35 England and or America 1709, with wife, son age 9, daughter age 6. Kegel, Herman Philadelphia, PA 1860 Kegel, M. Barb " " 1753 Kegel, Thomas " " 1750 Kegel, Thomas w/son " " 1805 The only ones I have had time to look up source data for are: Maria Kegelin, arrived Philadelphia. Pa; 11-17-1795. The ships name was "Brig, Friendship" from Amsterdam. Nathan Clark, Master. Thomas Kegel w/son, Philadelphia, Pa; Ship "Little Cherub". Arrived 10-18-1805, Daniel Brewton master. Now here is my question to all on the list for open discussion. All of these peoples names are Kegel, or start with, Kegel. Are these all variations of the same surname, or different surnames? Earl
