Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Nancy Jane, I started my family tracing a little over a year ago but I have only recently gotten the point to tracing my Cagle family line and have very much enjoyed your posts on the Cagle Family Genealogy Forum. The information on the early history of the Kegels/Cagles in this country has been very interesting to me. My mother's mother was a Cagle. My grandmother was Clara Cagle, daughther of John Reuben Cagle (b. abt 1865, d. 1938) of Walker and Winston counities in AL. John was the son of Isaac Cagle and Rebecca Norris. Isaac was born in 1832 in TN and died in 1906 in Walker Co., AL. Rebecca was the daughter of Reuben Norris. She was born in 1832 in AL and died in 1911 in Walker Co., AL I first found the lineage chart for John Reuben Cagle and Isaac Cagle on LDS. It shows them being the descendants of John Cagle (b. 1798 in Cabarrus Co. NC), the son of Valentine "Velti" Cagle (b. 1753 in Moore Co., NC, d. 1825), the son of John "Dutchman" Cagle (b. 1710? in Philadelphia, PA, d. 1799), the son of Leonhart Kegel, the founder of this whole family line. Since then I've had a hard time making these dates and names mesh. The 1880 Census shows Isaac as being born in TN, but it shows his father's place of birth as SC and his mother's place of birth as GA. Also, the information that you and others have posted about Velti and Dutchman make me wonder if someone has made the wrong connection back to Leonhart. I have reason to believe that Isaac was born in Warren Co., TN. as noted in LDS. This adds another interesting element to my children's family tree. My wife's father's GGF was Vachel Lankford, who also came from Warren Co. in the same time period. Also, Vachel Lankford married into the same Seitz family as did some of the Cagles. As a matter of fact, there is evidence that my Cagle ancestors and my wife's ancestors were members of the same church in Warren Co. in the 1810-1820's. If there is any light you could shed on this line for me I would greatly appreciate it. I'll be glad to share with you information about my grandmother's father, mother, and brothers and sisters. My mother's remaining brothers and sisters are having their annual reunion this weekned. I had planned to share with them the story of their Cagle/Kegel heritage. I'd love to be able to show them their exact line back to Leonhart Kegel. Thanks in advance, Jim Nix Birmingham, AL 205-833-2578 --part1_bb29ea5.247594fc_boundary--
