Information was found in the Cagle Census records of the South, 1860 to 1910 on page 447. Harvey McGaughey Cagle was born 1824, at Dardanell Twp. He was the oldest son of John D. Cagle b-1800-1863. of Warren County, Tennessee. Harvey M. was listed in the 1860 Census of Warren county, and served in the Civil War as a Confederate but was captured and paroled ot Illinois, and never returned to Tennessee to live. He moved to Kentucky in the late 1860s , and then to Arkansas in the late 1870s . First appearing in Yell County, Records on the 1879 personal Property Tax List, in which his property is valued at $110, and his tax liability at $2.55. Then he appeared in 1880 Yell County . Cagle can be traced from his own autobiographical accounts, written in February 1883, on the occasion of his application to enter the Gospel Ministry. He indicates that he was born June 08, 1857, in McMinnville, Warren County, Tennessee and lived in the County, until November 1863, when he and his siblings journeyed to southern Illinois, to hoin their father, Harvey M. Cagle , a captured Confederate Soldier, They lived in Newhaven IL. until 1866, at which time they determined to return to Tennessee. but. while on the journey , they stopped at Caldwell County, KY. where Harvey M. found work as a carpenter, and decided to stay. He soon bougth a farm in the region , and lived there for a period before migrating to Arkansas . Carter Murette Cagle did not accompany his father to Arkansas, but remained in Kentucky, being enumerated in Ballared county, Kentucky in 1880, as noted above. His first wife Mary Jane Peebles, died ca 1881-82 at Cummingham , Carlisle County, Kentucky, leaving two children Justin Loren Cagel born 11June, 1879, and Mary Jane Cagle , b 10, May 1881 . Note Justin and Mary Jane in 1900 , Carlisle Co. above. On December 25, 1884, Carter Murette was married to Roxie Malinda Clark 1867-1948, to whom 7 more children were born , between the years of 1886 and 1903.
