George ( Sr.) *3 Cagle (Johan Dewalt "David" Kegel *2, (Leonhart Kegell ) Leonard *1) was born 1750 in Rowen County, North Carolina, and died November 06, 1825 in Montgomery County , North Carolina. He married Rebecca * Cagle 1766 in Montgomery County, North Carolina. Cagle, George 00001-02001 (D,1825, Montgomery Co North Carolina .) George Cagle Sr. b- 1750 and died November 06, 1825 . George married to Rebecca Cagle who was born 1752. amd died 1838. George and Rebecca and there family were members of the Church which was located near the Big Creek, Just off Hwy. 27 west of the bridge in a pasture below Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church . There are alot of graves located in there, but George Cagle , 1750 - 1825 and Mary Harley are the only graves marked . The land where the Chuch is now is owned by the Huneycutts. In the name of God, amen. I, Benjamin Cagle of the County of Stanly, and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and publish this, my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say: First: that my executor therinafter mentioned shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with all my just debts howsoever and to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into his hands as a part or parcels of my estate. Item 1 ---My wish and desire is that all my estate both real and personal be dept together on the premises for the support of my beloved wife and children and for the raising of my minor childdren ans slaves and for the purpose that my children be taught a good English education and that my two daughters, Sarah and Adaline Cagle, that are now of age but living with me and continue on the premises and have the same rights and privileges as they now have and to be supported as they now are, during the time they or either of them shall live single, and if they marry, this privilege then shall cease. Also my beloved wife to continue on the premises, occupying and enjouing all the rights and privileges of the possession together with all my children during her natural life or widowhood, and if she should marry, then this privilege to cease, as I shall herein after make provision for my beloved wife and children, viz. Item 2 ---My wish and desire is that my daughter Elizabeth Finch, deceased, lawful heirs of her body, viz. Lindsey F. Finch, have in property to be valued by two disinterested persons, the sum of $25.00, also Wellington Finch, to have in property, $25.00 to be valued as the other lot as there may not be money on hand sufficient to pay them and the above amount, to be their portion besides what I have hertofore gave off to their mother. Item 3 --- My wish and desire is that my daughter, Mary Mauldin, deceased, lawful heirs of her body, viz. Rebecca, Martha, Mary, and James E. Mauldin have a certain yellow girl named Annepee, to be equally divided between them and that to be their portion, except what I heretofore gave to their mother. Item 4 --- My wish and desire is that my daughter Nancy Rowland, deceased, the lawful heirs of her body, viz. John B. and Green L. Rowland have $100.00 to be equally divided between them in property to be valued by two disinterested persons, if there should not be money on hand sufficient, provided they come after it and this to be their portion, except what their mother has already had. Item 5 --- My wish and desire is that my grand daughter, Ithama Cagle, daughter of James Cagle, deceased, have the place known as my old place, all the lands lying and being in the County, of Stanly and State of North Carolina and adjoining the lands of David Coble, deceased, and a tract known as the Whirfield tract on the East side of Big Long Creek and my own on the West side, it being all the lands I am now seized and possessed of on the East side of said creek below the mouth of the steep hollow, to be her right and title, also one negro girl by the name of Olive, 1 feather bed and furniture and this to be her portion besides what I heretofore gave off to her father. Item 6 --- My wish and desire is that the lawful heirs of my son, Lindsey F. Cagle deceased, have one negro man by the name of Bob, and a girl by the name of emaline, together with what I have hertofore gave to their father, except what I herinafter mention to be their portion of my estate. Item 7 --- My wish and desire is that my daughter, Catherine Efird, have two nefroes, one by the name of Omy, the other Lina, which said negroes I have give into her possession, also the balance of what I have hertofore gave off to her to be her oi=rioirtuib if nt estate. Item 8 --- My wish and desire is that my daughter, susannah Perry, have a certain tract of land called the roger Land, it being a part of my old place and bounded by Long Creek as a dividing line between Ithama and Susannah, and bounded by John Cobb, it being the land on the West side of said creek, it being all the lands that I am possessed of on the West side of said creek below John Coley's, to be hers and her heirs forever, also a begro girl, by the name of Fanny which she now has in her possession, together with what I have heretofore gave off to her, to be her portion of my estate. Item 9 ---- My wish and desire is that my daughter , Sarah Cagle, have one negro girl by the name of Caty, and her increase, and provided she should marry and go to housekeeping, to have another negro to be worth $250.00 together with what property that is now claimed by her and called hers and she is have the same for her portion. Item 10 --- My wish and desire is that my daughter, Adaline Cagle , have a nefro girl, by the name of Rachel, and her increase, and if she should marry and leave, then to have another negro to be worth $250.00 together with all the property here now claimed by her and called hers, to be her portion. Item 11 --- My wish and desire is that my beloved wife, Judith Cagle, should at any time aftermy death, think proper to marry, then her rights in the first item to cease and to have no longer possession of the premises, nor neither to take the children off the premises, but in that case to have all her clothing and chest, bed and furniture and a common set of tableware and one cow and calf and her side saddle, this to be hers and at her disposal forever, and I also loan her one negro girl, by the name of Chaney, to wait on her during her natural life and not to be allowed to remove the said negro out of the County, of Stanly, and provided she cannot keep and conrtol the said negro, to return her back on the premises. Item 12 --- My wish and desire is that the heirs of my son, Lindsey F. Cagle, have and possess and enjoy one half of that grist and saw mill, so long as they may be kept up, and that the mills be kept up by my heirs, and such of them only as are in possession of my home lands and premises, land by the heirs of Lindsey F. Cagle, deceased, and for the expenses to be as near equally divided as possible. Item 13 --- My wish and desire is that my three yougest children, viz Rebecca, Martha, and David Cagle have the balance of my estate not otherwise disposed of, and for the same to be equal in valuation between the three named children, David to have the lands whereon I now live and the girls to have equal in valuation of other property so as to make them equal with the lands, but for the firls to have an equal interest in the mills with David as long as they continue to bear an equal part in keeping them up, share and share about, and provided the firls, one or both shall marry, that my executor give off some portion of the property to them by valuation, so as to fit them for housekeeping and that no division shall be fully made til my son David be of full age, and if any of my negroes cannot be controlled by the family, for the same to be taken and hired out, or sold to the best advantage to the estate, and should there be any property or increase of property likely to waste and not needed by the family, the same to be sold to the best advantage by my executor. Item 14 --- And lastley I do herby constitute and appoint my trusty friends, Solomon Haithcock and David Kendall, my Executors and Judith Cagle, my executrix, to be my lawful executors and executrix to all my intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true intent and meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof. Hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. David kendall, one of the executors of Benjamin's Will, was presumably the same David Kendall (1792-1878 ) who was buried at the Kendall Family Cemetary, on a tributary of Long Creek a Few miles to the north of Albemarle. Similarly, Green Palmer (1795-1865) , one of the witnesses to the Will, is buried at the Palmer Family Cemetary located near the Watery Branch of Long Creek, to the NW of Albemarle. Phillips, Henry 35 '' Idiotic " " Sarah 21 " George Cagle listed at George Kegel and fought in the war of 1812, Cabarrus County, Regiment, 6th Regiment detached Militia organized August 1814 . Commading Officer , Major General Montford Stockes Commadant , Lt. Col. Richard Allison . He was botn July 08, 1777 in Stanly County, and died in May 1851, in Stanly County, North Carolina. The Will of George Jr., in 1851, shows that Howard's name was actually Harwood Washington Cagle . The family had originated in Moore County, in the Fayette Dist, of North Carolina, as noted they moved westward to what is now Stanley Co., NC in the 1780s. 6 v. John M. Cagle, born 1780 in Montgomery County, North Carolina; died 1858 in Benton County, Tennessee. He married Mazana "Zana" Herndon. Notes for John M. Cagle: John was 75, years old when his last son was born in 1855. (this might have been his 1800 Montgomery, W. Peedee Cagle, John 0001 - 0 1840 Carroll County, TN. Cagle of Arkansas. There is a tombston of John Cagel, 1780 - 1858, founder and head of the Cagle Families of the Carroll/Benton Co. area,. On a hillside in the Herndon Cemetery, in Northern Benton County, Tennessee where he and his wife Mazana Hendon Cagle are buried . On the reverse side of the tombstone are inscribed the names of 11 children of John and Mazana, this is one of the few Cagle tombstones in America which carries such a complete family record. John's grandfather was David Cagle who arrived in America from Germany in 1732, with his father Leonhart Kegell . George was born 1750-1825, he was the father of John Cagle. of Stanly County,. The tomstone of John Cagle , 1780-1858 and wife Mazana Cagle, 1808 -1862, in the Herndon Cemetey in Northren Benton County, Tennessee. buried by them is a daughter Sarah Cagle 1842-1857 . Cagle B-1853 Notes: Seven of eight brothers above eventually made their way to Illinois, with William , Leonard, Charles, Thomas, and David, settling in Massac County, Il. by 1870. John H. & George W. were in Henry County, Tennessee in 1880, but moved to Il prior to 1900, with John settleing in Johnson County, George W. in Union County, Il. only James H. stayed in Tennesse and died in 1909 in Henry County, Tennessee.
