Nancy Jane, in an email dated 8/4/99, about my line of Stokes, descendants of William Henry Stokes and Mary Margaret (Cagle?), Silas Stokes m. Martha Jane Cagle. Their youngest child, Martha Lou Stokes, B. July 27, 1896, Winfield, Marion County, AL d. June 9, 1898, Winfield, Marion County, AL. Her death place is incorrect. She died in Greenway, Clay Co., AR and is buried in Mitchell Cemetery, Greenway, Clay Co., AR. She is buried next to her parents. I have pictures of her stone and her parents stone. Her stone is a very small one and was hard to read. It just says M. L. Stokes., dau of Sam J., 27 July 1896-6 Sep 1898. You stated that Silas married a cousin. I am having trouble figuring that out.
