Hi Linda All I was trying to say is that two of Charles and Susannah's childrens descendents do have it, in there family lines. The gene has to come from somewhere. My great grandmother who is the daughter of Charles Arter Calge, my grandmother my grandmothers half brother and my aunt who is a half sister to my father died from it at the age of 55, 3 of my 1st cousins, my daughter has it, have it now and 1 cousin s a carrier and 1 aunt a carrier so far. We can't be sure what family members have died from this because they were not tested. And we didn't know anything about the Hemochromatosis. But once you find out that you have this many cases in the family, it's a good thing to let as many people know as you can. Because of my letting people know about the Blood disease , one of my Henry's brothers descendents has been tested and tested positive, and two of his cousins also have tested positive. You do not have to have every symptoms to have it many people go without symptoms at all. When you turn bronze you are very advanced. My daughters coloring is pale , severe fatigue, headaches, joint pain in her fingers, abdominal pain. you can't be tested just one time or just a hemoglobin test is not enough because you can have a low hemoglobin but high iron saturation. My daughter thought she was anemic because of symptoms but wanted to be tested for Hemochromatosis before taking iron, her test results were positive. This is something you need to be tested for yearly. I'm very glad you and your family members havn't tested positive. Dr. Bob's Cagle family has this going threw is line of Cagle's also , we do not know who Tabitha belongs to yet, his mother died from this and I think he said a couple of his brothers have it. With Love Your Cousin Nancyjane (this is what is says a simple blood test can indicate iron levels. They must be proper iron measures: Total Binding Capacity (TIBC) together with Serum Iron Divide TIBC into SI to get percentage of transferrin saturation. Follow up with Serum Ferritin ) this is a two part test. The excess Iron injures body organs, it causes Heart irregularities, fatigure, cirrhosis,(even if you do not drink) arthritis , diabetes and or cancer, these are a few of the signs. There are more signs. This is not a uncommon illness.
