    3. Earl and List - re: Clay Co, IN Cagle folks --- I have no clue abt who the Susannah is. The two children following her in the census household listing for Peter must be Susannah's but who was her husband. I only have one brother for Peter - that is Henry who's in Clay Co. in the 1850 census also. John

German Records: 18th Century 1. Types of Records Abzugsgeld Manumissions. Church registers. Notarial records. 2. Individual German States Not only is the literature of German emigration to America in the 18th century increasingly extensive, but the bibliography is made more complicated by the fact that many of the pioneering works, in particular the short articles of Fritz Braun and Friedrich Krebs published originally in the 1950's and 1960's, have been reprinted, often in translation and in amalgamated form, many times. The following list therefore represents only the most significant and easily accessible works on the subject. For fuller details and further references, researchers should consult P. Gary, I've heard the same thing over the years. I got out my old college German dictionary and the German word for bowl is Kegeln. Kegel is a masculine noun meaning cone. Fortunately, I have never been called one of the original "coneheads" I have also heard that a Kegeler was a barrel maker. Has anyone ever heard that? Tom Saegertown, PA

I can imagine the lure of the new world for him, especially if he already had relatives here who were possibly writing back and forth to those still in Germany. Lee, I think you read the date wrong. This line came about 130 years after Leonhart. I will however post it when I have some time to type it up. Who knows, there just may be a Cagle list member that ties into this family. I think there are some "Cagles" not descended from Leonhart. Have a Good Evening! Tom Sunny Saegertown, PA

    3. Hi Everyone, In case anyone is interested, I recently was given a family list of Kagle's who came to this country about 1864, from Wittenburg, Germany settling in NW Pennsylvania. I'm sure this line has nothing to do with Leonhart, unless it is way back in Germany. I'm not going to post the whole thing, but if some researcher is interested, please let me know and I'll pass on the information. Tom Cagle Saegertown, PA

The information I have is that he took the Oath of Allegiance 25 Oct 1732. The same day of the Loyal Judith's, arrival in Philadelphia. All men of legal age, were required to take an oarh. Very nice find Gary, and thanks for posting this. Earl

Blount and Sevier Counties were adjacent and near Knoxville Tennessee. John "Dutchman" Cagle also had a son named William who lived his live in Moore Co., NC. Henry Cagle, Sr. and John "Dutchman" Cagle are sons of Leonhart Cagle according to the current thinking. 2. Hi Sandra & List. I just want to put in a few words about tongue tied Cagles. I have the same problems with mine. I am Joyce Fitch and I come from Catahoula Parish, La., I know so little about my Cagle line that I sometimes wonder what they were trying to hide. My grandfather, his father and grandfather were all Williams so I really have a problem trying to separate them. My mother was Martha Elizabeth Cagle.b April 13, 1908. m Elzie E. Harris. If anyone is familiar with this line, I would appreciate the help. Her siblings were: Jessie, Wade, Seville, Lacy, Ada, William, & Ruby. The Siblings of my Grandfather William Cagle were: Kisiah,ca.1855, Susan,ca1857, Rachel Elizabeth,ca 1858, Emeline,ca.1863 and Isaac.ca. 1868 Thanks Joyce WhatJoy@aol.com R C
