Directions are I75-S to Exit 68, right (which is Bill Gardner Parkway). Approximately 3 miles on the left is the cemetery, within walking steps to a railroad track. It is also directly across from an upscale "fly-in" community called Mallard's Landing. This compiler noted that this cemetery is extremely ornate. No expense was spared in the interment of this family. A stone wall encloses it. It is very noticeable from the road since it is directly on a main thoroughfare through the county. LOWES DISTRICT This area was home to some very prominent families, and was one of the best agricultural sections in the county. This graveyard is where Benjamin Cagle, the John G. Pullin family, Williams L. Kimbell and others are buried. Pullin: Elijah Pullin married Elizabeth Slaik in Wilkes County, Georgia in 1808. John Pullin, his son, married Elizabeth A. Edwards, daughter of William Edwards and Susannah Wynn (from South Carolina). They had a son, Peter W. Wilson, who married Lelia Harper and they produced 5 sons. Peter was a very successful farmer and became one of the wealthiest men in the county. In fact, when Henry County needed money in 1897 to build the new courthouse, P.W. lent the money - as a manager/director of The Bank of Henry County. P.W. was noted as one of the big Four of Lowe's district which produced large amounts of cotton and corn. Kimbell: William Lumpkin Kimbell, (b) 09/17/1820m (d) 01/16/1907, was married 1846 to Minerva Robertson (1819-1875). Father of William was Christopher Kimbell. Their association with the Cagle family was through their daughter who married a Cagle, and her daughter Lizze Cagle married Jordan M. Johnson. William L. Kimbell married Sarah Samantha Thrower (1837-1888), after the death of Minerva. They are also buried in the Pullin-Cagle-Kimbell cemetery on the Locust Grove-Luella Road (now known as Bill Gardner Parkway). Other siblings of W.L. were Martha Kimbell Crow, David T. Kimbell, Mary Kimbell Chappell, George W. Kimbell, Frances Kimbell Brown, Cagle: Benjamin Cagle was a Justice of the Peace from 3/14/1832 - 1/17/1833 and 4/30/1856. Does anyone know this line? I would love to talk to you if you do. Jacob CAGLE was married to Ruthy I believe they were from GA. They had a son named Peter CAGLE who married Nancy Elizabeth HANSON 1848. My info says they were married in Cherokee Tribe Indian Territory. They had a daughter Evaline CAGLE b.6-3-1851 She married Joseph Harrison BALES and they had 8 children. Nellie Bales married WILLIAM Richard WILSON and they had my grandfather Earl William WILSON.
Good Morning, I had someone contact me directly about an Admiral Malcolm Cagle. Does anyone know who this might be? According to the person who contacted me the Admiral was from Hickman Co., TN. Also, as a little follow-up on the Early PA Cagle's, I found and Anna Marie Kachel born in Brecknock Twp., Berks Co in 1765. There was no other information on here parents. If remember correctly isn't Brecknock where Leonhart had land? Thanks! Tom in Pennsylvania sylvania
Hello List, I just saw where Joseph Cagle served in Co I, 4th Arkansas Infantry during the civil war. This was primarily a Polk Co Ar unit. Could this possibly be Joseph b. 1808, son of Leonard? It stated he was left in Arkansas when the unit moved east. If anyone has info on Joseph's service, I would sure like to add him to my long list of veterans. Thanks. Gary Hawley
Hi List, While looking at some UsGenWeb records, came across these : CAGLE Robert C. F.-3/28/1831- 4/1/1915 Lucy L.-5/28/1837 - 2/13/1917 Melissa E.-9/23/1858 -1 /7/1923 Elijah E.-3/29/1857 - 8/17/1928 Who was the father of this, Robert Cagle? While on a recent trip to Columbia, Mo; I received two nice photos. These are seperate pictures of my grandparents. Mark D.Cagle Sr; & Mary E.Cagle (Gunter). He was a son of Thomas William Cagle, who was a son of Charles Jacob Cagle, who was a son of Charles Cagle Sr, who was a son of Leonhart Kegel. To say the least I was very prould to get a copy of their 8x10 photos. They both died in the 1930's, years before I was born. When I looked at their photos, not only could I see my father's features, but also where some of my features had come from. Take Care All, Earl
Hi Folks, The following is being passed on to you, from rootsweb. This will make life a little easier for some of you sending messages to the Cagle, mail list. As always if you have any questions, just visit their hompage: htttp://www,rootsweb,com/ Regards, Earl __________________________ Hi, folks - This is to let you know that we've written a new filter for HTML messages on RootsWeb lists. Instead of bouncing all HTML messages as we've done for the last year or so, the new filter just converts the HTML to plain text. List admins don't have to do anything special; the filters are already enabled. This change ought to result in less mail getting bounced unnecessarily from your lists and fewer confused subscribers. I'd like to take this moment to acknowledge the important part that Netscape Communications played in developing this software. Were it not for their efforts to add HTML to e-mail, this work would never have been necessary in the first place. -- Regards, Tim Pierce RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative system obfuscator and hack-of-all-trades
Hi Jim I do not have much on the Seitz and Feldsinger: I have Feldsingers will and some of the seitz childrens names and that about all . I put the will in because that gives Cathernia Seitz's name . I think there is a little bit more about them in the book and there are Seitz in Arkansas , I think they moved in big groups more than what we thougt the did. It gives a little proff. Nancy jane Tarzana , CA. April Descendants of Andrew Felsinger Generation No. 1 1. Andrew1 Felsinger was born in Germany, and died in Germany. He married Anna Margaretha. Notes for Andrew Felsinger: Andrew Felsinger , age 51, arrived in Philadelphia on September 16, 1738 on the Queen Elizabeth, Accopanied by his son-in-law John Henry Steitz, age 26, who had married his daughter Dorothea Elizabeth Felsinger, after his arival, he took up land in Bucks County , PA. , to the North of Philadelphis , in the area which subsequently became Northampton County, in 1752. In the late 1740's, John Henry Seitz and wife moved South to North Carolina and located in the Trans-Catawba settlement in Old Anson County, (presently Lincoln County, ) . Felsinger however remained in Northhampton County, PA. and eventually died there in 1767. On July 8, 1766 Felsinger made a Will in Northampton County, Will book 1, Pg. 31, in which he dived up his estate as follows. Andreas Feltzinger of Lower Saucon Twp. , to wife Anna Margaretha, L116- 1 cow, 1 iron stove, and all the rest of my household goods. My Godson Andreas L 4---1 suit of clothes that I ware on Sunday and 4 shirts . And my daughter Dorothea the wife of John Henry Seitz now residing in the province of North Carolina ---20s --also 20s to her husband John Henry Seitz-If her husband is dead according to a letter from her, then Dorothea shall have an equal part and share it with the rest of my lawful issues (my gradson Andrew excepted) All the rest of my goods except thos above mentioned to be divided amongst the lawful issue of my said daughter Dorothea as shall survive me in equal parts when they become 21 or on the day of marriage. . Executor: son-in -law Christopher Waggoner , esq., of Lower Saucon Twp. withness: Valentine opp, Godfreyd Richtor , 8, July 1766. An addition seems to have been made to the will by December 7, 1767, in which the following provision is made. What I gave to my wife is in lieu of her dowry and includes the bond of L66 "Now in the hands of Christopher Waggoner Esq. Beging money which said Anna Margaretha , his wife brought to me at the time of her marriage..." Witnesses: Valentine Opp, Godfreyd Richtor proved 7, Dec. 1767. It is not made clear in the Will whether the younger Andreas was a Godson or a grandson perhaps the son of a deceased son of the older Andreas. Christopher Waggoner , the son-in- law who was the executor of the Will, was a well-known land owner and political figure in Northampton County, PA. . Waggoner was also the Executor of the Will of Andreas, wife Anna Margaretha when she subseqenty died in 1755. It is posible that Christopher Waggoner was somehow related to the younger Christopher Waggoner who was intermarried with the Cagles of Cabarrus County, North Carolina and Davidson County, Tennessee. One intersting feature of the Felsinger will is the fact that the Christopher Family does not seem to inheit money or property from Felsinger. No reason for this _________omission has been discovered: however , it is possible that Waggoner and wife, since they lived near Felsinger in PA. had already been given their share of the Felsinger's estate before the Will was drawn up. Hi Gang, In response to the forwarded posting in re: poatal tax on e-mail. this is a version of an older hoax which has been around for a few weeks. I immediately checked the updated archive of such hoaxes and found the following, so don't get too excited over it. Doyle *************** archive of legends & netlore: U.S. Postal Tax on Email? Posted: 05/22/99 Here's an item straight out of the Hoax Recycling Bin. A "new" email forward claims that the U.S. Postal Service is attempting to levy a 5-cent surcharge on every email delivered within the United States. Funny thing is, a virtually identical message circulating one month ago claimed that the same thing was about to happen in Canada. False, in both cases (see comments below). Subject: E-MAIL SURCHARGE Dear Internet Subscriber: Please read the following carefully if you intend to stay online and continue using email: The last few months have revealed an alarming trend in the Government of the United States attempting to quietly push through legislation that will affect your use of the Internet. Under proposed legislation the U.S. Postal Service will be attempting to bilk email users out of "alternate postage fees". Bill 602P will permit the Federal Govt to charge a 5 cent surcharge on every email delivered, by billing Internet Service Providers at source. The consumer would then be billed in turn by the ISP. Washington D.C. lawyer Richard Stepp is working without pay to prevent this legislation from becoming law. The U.S. Postal Service is claiming that lost revenue due to the proliferation of email is costing nearly $230,000,000 in revenue per year. You may have noticed their recent ad campaign "There is nothing like a letter". Since the average citizen received about 10 pieces of email per day in 1998, the cost to the typical individual would be an additional 50 cents per day, or over $180 dollars per year, above and beyond their regular Internet costs. Note that this would be money paid directly to the U.S. Postal Service for a service they do not even provide. The whole point of the Internet is democracy and non-interference. If the federal government is permitted to tamper with our liberties by adding a surcharge to email, who knows where it will end. You are already paying an exorbitant price for snail mail because of bureacratic efficiency. It currently takes up to 6 days for a letter to be delivered from New York to Buffalo. If the U.S. Postal Service is allowed to tinker with email, it will mark the end of the "free" Internet in the United States. One congressman, Tony Schnell (r) has even suggested a "twenty to forty dollar per month surcharge on all Internet service" above and beyond the government's proposed email charges. Note that most of the major newspapers have ignored the story, the only exception being the Washingtonian which called the idea of email surcharge "a useful concept who's time has come" March 6th 1999 Editorial) Don't sit by and watch your freedoms erode away! Send this email to all Americans on your list and tell your friends and relatives to write to their congressman and say "No!" to Bill 602P. Kate Turner Assistant to Richard Stepp, Berger, Stepp and Gorman Attorneys at Law 216 Concorde Street, Vienna, Va. Guide's note: Compare the above to the Canadian version of one month ago. Someone has simply taken that text and "localized" it by replacing Canadian references with U.S. equivalents. No points for cleverness or originality on this one. Here's an excerpt from the U.S. Postal Service's reaction to the rumor: A completely false rumor concerning the U.S. Postal Service is being circulated over the Internet via e-mail. The e-mail message claims that a "Congressman Schnell" has introduced "Bill 602P" to allow the federal government to impose a 5-cent surcharge on each e-mail message delivered over the Internet. The money would be collected by Internet Service Providers and then turned over to the Postal Service. No such proposed legislation exists. In fact, no "Congressman Schnell" exists. Media Sightings CBS MarketWatch: 'Email rumor is shot down' Newsbytes: 'Don't Go Postal Over Email Tax Hoax' Roy Betts, manager of media relations for the Postal Service, told reporters: "It's obviously a hoax." Er... evidently not so obvious to everyone forwarding the email alert. Rumors of rate hikes or surcharges for Internet access, no matter how false, never fail to cause hysteria among rank and file users. Witness the similar Modem Tax legend of a decade ago, or the more recent long distance access charge rumors that have swamped the FCC's offices with protests over the past couple of years.
